Our many years of experience and stream of returning guests makes this
ranch one of the best places in the Americas for great open range horse
riding for any ability level of rider.
RIDING
The riding in this almost unfenced landscape, is one of riding within a
series of communities and low intensity farmed / ranged land. The trails
around the ranch offer the most diverse and entertaining riding to be
had.
At the risk of sounding pretentious and according to the season, the
landscape compares favorably to: Constable's “The Haywain”, Van Gogh's
“The Cornfield ” and the scenery of Sergio Leone's film “The Good, the
Bad and the Ugly”, crowd pleasers every one of them!"

Progressive Ride ‘Viva Mexico - Highland Explorer’
Staying every night at our ranch means; not having to pack clothes and
kit each day, access to swimming pool, and comfortable accommodation

HORSES
Our horses are mostly a mix of Quarter horse and Criollo. This is a
great mixture because it includes the following traits:
Criollo…
Energetic, surefooted, willing, forward-going, endurance, strength,
good shape etc.
Quarter horse…
Reliable, balanced character, laid back, intelligent, sensible, etc.
These locally bred horses are calm in traffic, unafraid of dogs, and
almost unshockable. All the saddles / riding tack we use are locally
made.
RANCH
Rancho Las Cascasdas is
located on a high mountain plateau in a small valley at 2300mt/7500ft in
Central Mexico located next to a year around river. The Ranch was
purposely constructed from local stone in the local the hacienda ranch
style. It blends with the landscape, and yet provides guests with
amenities such as a hot tub, swimming pool, a shaded outdoor dining area
and views to local waterfalls.
CLIMATE
The superb temperate climate, with daily temperatures around 22 degrees,
a light breeze and blue skies make Rancho Las Cascadas the perfect place
for horseback riding all year round. 333 days of sunshine per year!
The nights are cooler which guarantee a good
night's sleep.
THE OPEN SECRET
For many years our ranch has been an open secret among airline crew
members who spend their layover in Mexico City. They like to escape to
Rancho Las Cascadas as a welcome relief from the hectic pace of their
work. We also receive regular guests from Mexico's ex-patriot and
embassy community , who want to enjoy a few days in the countryside away from
the hustle and bustle of the Mexico City Metropolis, and to enjoy the
convivial company of other horse riding enthusiasts.
